Elijah Gordy-Stith - UPDATED 6/14/2018
Obituary for Elijah Riley Gordy-Stith – July 28, 1997-June 12, 2018
Elijah Riley Gordy-Stith, 20, son of Vicki and Bo Gordy-Stith, and brother to Joy and Eli, passed away Tuesday after sustaining a fatal injury, surrounded by his family and friends. He died as he lived, giving life and love to others. With his strong, loving heart, Elijah courageously persevered through every trial with a resilient spirit that inspired everyone blessed to know and love him. Whether playing basketball, flipping off a diving board, or performing tricks on two wheels, Elijah rejoiced to run in his course, and amazed us who cheered him on.
Elijah’s beautiful green eyes stole our hearts, as he gave his heart to us. A patient teacher, Elijah always made time for others, especially children. His fun-loving and goofy side cheered us up whenever we were down. Elijah always found a way to smile in adversity. He loved to eat with family and friends – especially wings, ribs, and red beans and rice!
In his life, Elijah brought together several families to create one large community. In addition to his parents and siblings, he is survived by grandparents, Beverly Gordy, Pat and Donna Stith, Pete and Madeline, and Denise Santiago; his birth mother, Bernice Dubois, another brother, two sisters and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who were part of Elijah’s family.
The family will welcome family and friends for visitation from 9 until 11 am on Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Skyline United Methodist Church, 3100 Skyline Drive, Wilmington DE (in Pike Creek) where a memorial service to celebrate his life will begin at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, his family invites you to consider a donation in Elijah’s honor to Skyline United Methodist Church, Children and Families First (cffde.org/ways-to-give), or the Gift of Life (donatelife.net/give-to-dla).
