The September Workshop deals with:
"Ministry with the Poor: It's more than a Food Bank"
Presented by Bishop Peggy A. Johnson
The workshop will include Biblical, theological and practical insights into ministry with the poor both locally and abroad. Poverty is one of the Four Foci of the United Methodist Church and probably the one that is the most misunderstood. Charity is often where churches focus their ministry. Understanding the systemic causes of poverty and the need for churches to also work for justice is imperative as we strive to be in ministry with the poor.
Admission: one item that cannot be purchased with food stamps (ie: household paper products, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, laundry soap, Pampers, dish liquid, shaving cream, etc.)
Gathering Time 6:30 p.m.
