Program Assistant to Strengthening the Black Church and Hispanic Latino Ministries

The Program Assistant is responsible for supporting the Conference Mission of Cultivating Christ communities through our CALL—Connecting, Acting, Leading, and Loving. In particular, this program assistant provides administrative support to the Director of Strengthening the Black Church (STBC), and the Coordinator of Hispanic Latino Ministries: to connect local churches with each other and with the Conference to deepen relationships; to provide clear communications regarding meetings and events; to arrange logistical support for events; and to serve as a team member of the Conference Resource Center Staff.

Job Description: The Program Assistant is responsible for supporting the Conference Mission of Cultivating Christ communities through our CALL—Connecting, Acting, Leading, and Loving. In particular, this program assistant provides administrative support to the Director of Strengthening the Black Church (STBC), and the Coordinator of Hispanic Latino Ministries: to connect local churches with each other and with the Conference to deepen relationships; to provide clear communications regarding meetings and events; to arrange logistical support for events; and to serve as a team member of the Conference Resource Center Staff.
 
Accountability: To the Director of Connectional Ministries and to the Director of STBC and Coordinator of Hispanic Latino Ministries.
 
Tasks:
Connecting:

  • Provide correspondence, mailings, copies, filing, payment vouchers, brochures, etc.  .
  • Assist with schedules of the Director of STBC and Hispanic Latino Ministries.
  • Answer email and phone calls in timely and courteous manner.
  • Provide support and back-up to other Assistants in the office, as needed.
  • Design brochures and other graphics for the Directors, as needed.
Acting:
  • Participate in Conference Resource Center mission projects.
Leading:
  • Develop relationships with local churches with meeting space and maintain a list of available meeting spaces within the Conference. Coordinate with the Conference Registrar to assist.
  • Create flyers and brochures and certificates, as needed, for programs.
Loving:
  • Participate in weekly Staff devotions on Wednesdays.
 
Skills Required:
  • Excellent written and oral communications. Spanish fluency preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, able to prioritize multiple tasks with attention to details.
  • Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher, with knowledge of MS Excel.
  • Experience with Web based content management.
  • Willing to acquire and apply new skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Some travel expected.
