The Peninsula-Delaware Conference of the United Methodist Church

License School

Greetings!

CONGRATULATIONS, you are embarking on an exciting journey for the LORD! This is a letter of Information for those wishing to attend the License to Preach School (LPS).  The school is an opportunity to share a common journey of faith and to be challenged as you strive towards the goals both personally and professionally of ministry.

In order to participate in the school, you need to be recommended by your district superintendent. The Studies for License as a Local Pastor are offered by annual conference Boards of Ordained Ministry. The Peninsula-Delaware Conference, however, does not offer a school.

The majority of the people who attended school already have an appointment to a local church or they will be appointed during the calendar year. Students who have completed one quarter of the work required for the M. Div. degree may be approved for license as a local pastor without completing the licensing studies provided through the annual conference. (Our Board of Ordained Ministry, Bishop and Superintendents expect all persons to attend Licensing school whether they have or are attending seminary or not.)

The Peninsula-Delaware Annual Conference policy recommends that the sum total of License School cost be paid in the following increments (1/3 by the Applicant, 1/3 by the Local Church, and 1/3 by the Annual Conference). Please sign & complete the designated areas and return your application including your check(s) to me. If I can be of further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me.

May God's Blessings sustain you in all of your endeavors!

Shalom,

Rev. Darlene M. Dixon
